However, for an Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended family these traits came as a naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin in Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was a natural athlete and was a fan of tough athletic games. She combined this interest with an equally natural aptitude of performing. She was the recipient of nearly every Feis prizes for her own country's theater and drama proved the fact that she was a natural performer. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 as she was able to fulfill her goals of opera and classical singing and theater.
